The word Chinmaya means "True Knowledge". Pujya Gurudev Chinmayananda established the vast Chinmaya Movement to give maximum happiness to the maximum number for the maximum time. The Chinmaya Mission was started in 1953 at the instance of a handful of disciples to give expression to Swami Chinmayananda's vision and philosophy. Swami Chinmayananda, the vast visionary, who wished to spread the message of Gita, instructed his followers to start Vidyalayas, the Temples of Learning. To integrate the teachings of Swami Chinmayananda with the modern system of education, Sri.A.S.Menon, one of the ardent followers of Swamiji took the initiative to start schools at different locations in and around Trivandrum city.
